This city is home to California State University, Dominguez Hills. CSU Domingues Hills is known for being a commuter school. It was founded in the 1960s with its primary focus on attracting African-Americans from the nearby cities of Compton, Long Beach, and Gardena. The university's main goal was to offer an affordable education to lower income students who had previously been unable to afford the cost of a college education. By doing so, kids would be in a classroom getting a quality higher education rather than being on the streets potentially getting into trouble.
